Alhamdu Lillah we have entered the blessed month of Rajab. Although the moon was not sighted by our Shaykh Muhammad Afifi Al-Akiti there was a confirmed report from the east that has established the beginning of the Month of Rajab as today.
Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti (MCW member) from Oxford, UK, reported: Not Seen
Negative sighting in Oxford. The two of us attempted moonsighting at our usual site at the end of the 29th day of Jumada II (Sunday, 15 July 2007). The horizon was overcast and the crescent could not be sighted.
However, We received reports of positive sightings from the East. Knowledge of these positive sightings in the East, despite not being able to sight locally in the UK, is sufficient for us to establish the month Rajab for the UK to be tomorrow, Monday, the 16th of July. This is by following the default rule [dabit] in Islamic Law in this matter that whenever it is known that the crescent has been positively sighted in the East, local sighting inevitably follows, but not the other way round [mata hasalati r-ru'yatu fi l-sharqi lazima ru'yatuhu fi l-gharbi wa la-'aks].
